Collective Progress

June 14, 2016: Struggle

His ambitions were as high as the sky. His vision traveled beyond the stars. His dreams were planted in his two feet. Scripts of historic speeches by world leaders who made a difference were scattered around the living room. Essays and books by agents of cultural change occupied the desk space, filled with scribbles and notes around key passages. He studied and studied until he figured it out. He outlined his narrative for how he would change the world. Satisfied, he fell into a long slumber only to wake up and realize that his outline is null and void. He had learned one thing from his intellectual exploration into cultural¬†progress: the struggle is real. He hadn’t yet made one sacrifice.
